A new year

Well it has been a while since I posted on here. Well its 2012, I have 3 boys and a husband. 2 cats and a dog. Still living in the same house, and doing more crafting then ever.

Still a member of HPKCHC and loving every bit of my crafting time, which now includes knitting. finally I have mastered knit and purl and a few other stitches. I have crafted a few projects too.

2011 saw me complete over 19 projects, some of them documented on ravelry.

so far in 2012, I have competed a total of 12 projects and started no fewer than 3. I have many more projects to come this year and designs.

Arh...its already 2011

Where has the time gone! Its already nearing the middle of the fourth month, and has it been busy!

Grant is now 9months old, Miles is in grade 1 and William is 2 and finally starting to talk. Winter is approaching fast with the weather turning nasty with only a days notice. I think it is time to start knitting and crocheting some items to keep the cool weather at bay or atleast look good for this winter.

Some items I have planned are beanies, scarves, socks and shawls, maybe a cardigan or jumper too. I have the yarn, just got to widdle down the patterns and start work on them.

Slytherin came in last this term...so next term I am going to have to work harder and hope that we come in first again. So, I must do an OWL or two. I have a few things in mind, so it will be interesting to see, if I am able to push myself to completing them in 3months.

Photos of items I have finished can be seen on my ravelry page or in my flickr account.

well time to be creative...I am thinking about designing a knitting pattern, so must work out a bit about knitting and if it is possible to make up. (^_^) Wish me luck!

Oh, we also added 2 dogs to our family as well, they are rescue dogs from the local pound, and are lovely, (the Jack Russell, is a bit of a trouble maker, but hopefully he will grow out of it!)

sick dogs get some rest

How come I dont get a rest! Im sick...sicker then most dogs that have been eating roadkill for the past week. I dont like being sick. Willy and I both have a cold, and it is not nice at all. I am awake most of the night trying to get Willy to go back to sleep, so I am going without. I know it is part of the package deal that mothers (and fathers) sign up for. I am looking forward to having a nice hot shower before having to the doctors. I am also crossing my fingers that I get to see a dentist sometime this week. I might as well have it removed, as it is painful and not fun any more. lol

There was going to be a photo here of me, but I just couldnt do it...its just wrong to inflict that kind of punishment on people...lol

Crocheting
I am working on my quidditch projects at the moment. I have to see what else i can fit in, but my 2 main goals for this month, is my quidditch outfit for Willy and my OWL. I want to get about 25% of them done.

I have finished a few projects last month and just one so far this month. Not bad going.

(Im just waiting for my mummy to come over and look after me...)

Muggles studies

For a while now, I have been thinking about making something to keep my mp3 player protected. It has its own pouch, but it doesnt feel like it would protect it from hard knocks or drops. So I was lucky to see that one of the assignments for HPKCHC was to make some that muggles might use since they cant use magic. So with the assignment set, and children (baby and little man) busy, I got to work on it. The best part was that the yarn that I am using was gifted to me from Val, and it is the prefect thickness to keep my player safe from the knocks and drops that it might suffer if the baby or little man got a hold of it. It is such beautiful yarn too. I really like blue and black. There is just a little left of the partical ball, so I dont know what to make with it, but I am sure that I will think of something.

Finally finished

Took the kids to see Bob the Builder at the shopping center. Miles loved it a lot and William was asleep during the show, but he was awake for a photo with the cast.

Owlet, known as Midori-tama was made for HPKCHC as part of Feb. homework. Miles has claimed him and has taken him to school with him. He wants me to make him some more.

I finally finished the Seraphina's Shawl that I started in May of 2008. I know it took me a long time, but that was because I didnt work on it all the time just every now and then. I like how it turned out.

Updates on what I am doing

At the moment I am working on my HPKCHC, Arithmancy homework. I am working on the body of it at the moment. I hope to have this finished either tonight or tomorrow night, then I can work on the rest of "its" body. You will have to wait and see what it is.

I finished my DADA homework, the exchange bag from Stitch n bitch crochet. I made it in lavander and love it. It worked up quite lovely, and it could be a pattern that I do again for Christmas presents for some of the ladies.

This was taken recently of the boys. William is getting a lot of hair growth on his noggin', I am thinking in the next couple of weeks he might have a nice crop on there.

current projects and what I am up to

I just finished a little bag for little Ava. She is the daughter of one of my husbands work mates, her mother and I get along fine and I really like them. On Saturday, she is going to have her 1st birthday party, so I thought I would make her a little bag. I cross-stitched her name on it.

This year I have joined the HPKCHC or Harry Potter Knit/Crochet House Cup on Ravelry. I am in Slytherin House. I have so far signed up for 2 classes, Dark Arts and Arithmancy, but hope that I might be able to do a few more this month.
I am working on the Exchange bag from Stitch 'n Bitch, the Happy Hooker for my DADA. I am using Red Heart Lavender that was RAKed to me from another Ravelry group. I want to get this bag finished in a few days, so that I can start my other project for HPKCHC.

FO Origami Turkish Socks

Well, I finished off the socks today. Since it was only a little way to go, I thought I might as well finish them off for Miles. He came home from Kindy and was very happy with his new socks. He is wearing them now and says that they are warm. They arent very tight, so I am so happy about that, as I thought they were going to be small, but instead, they have quite a bit of room in them.

Miles's Starghan now a FO!!!

Someone really likes their starghan...he wouldnt let me take any more photos of it, cos he wanted it. He now has it packed into his little Wiggles backpack ready to take to kindy tomorrow. He really loves the size of the ghan, I would have liked to have made it bigger, but he really wanted it.

Here is Miles hugging his starghan, after he folded it up and told me I couldnt take any more photos of it. He is really happy, and that is all that I care about. (^_^)

Belliveau Cove Hat FO

Another finished object! Yippee!!!! I started this hat the other night, and finally finished it this morning. It is so cold here, there is ice outside! So a nice warm, snug fitting hat is in order and boy, does my head feel nice and warm. Now I know why my husband loves his hat so much! It is so warm up there.
Anyway here are some photos with my mug involved. I will get my hubby to take a photo of me later that should be better then these ones.

Some photos of my projects

Starghan for Miles. Here is my progress so far on the starghan for Miles. It is coming along so quickly, and is so easy to follow. I am using Baby Starghan by Beth Espina-Cole. It is a free pattern too! I am almost finished all the orange yarn that I had, so I will go stash diving to find another colour to go with the orange. I was thinking maybe black and white, like Nemo! But I will see what Miles would like for his starghan. He loves it already, and can't wait to have it.

Lace wrap, photos of it finally!!! I havent blocked it yet, but I will try and get to that this weekend. But here a few photos of the lace wrap, as well as, close ups of the butterfly and the front post stitch and back post stitch in the shells. Also, the back of the wrap.

I am planning on working on the starghan tonight for awhile, and then maybe something else. I am not sure yet, as I am still thinking about the other projects I want to make and finish this month.

Another project finished

Last night I finished the lace wrap! I just have to tidy it up a bit with the loose ends and then block it. I think it looks very cute.
I have made it 2 repeat deep, so it has 3 butterflies down. I havent taken measurements yet, but once I have it blocked I will get out the tape measure and give it a once over. All I have to do is work out where the tape measure is.

Miles isnt feeling too good today either, he had a fever last night. He did end up having a good sleep though, and has just woken up.

More FO with photos

Well I finished blocking the knitted neck warmer, I am not sure why it keeps curling, but it is nice and warm. After I stitched the button on, I took it outside to let my husband see it and wear it. He said that it was nice and warm. I havent added any flowers or anything, incase he wears it again. I dont think it would look really good with a flower on it around my husbands neck. But here are the photos of my knitted neck warmer.

Not being able to contain myself, I started my second tawashi, using the same pattern as the first one, but did it in a different stitch, not sure what stitch it is. (so if anyone knows please tell me!!!) It is the same pink and grey as the first one, but for some reason (lighting) it has come out as hot pink/orange. The first photo is more to the true colour of the tawashi.

On my hooks I have Seraphina's shawl, and the lace wrap. I am planning on getting the lace wrap finished as soon as possible so that I can block it and get it ready to send out to my exchange partner. It doesnt appear to be very wide, but I am sure that it would be great as either a little shoulder wrap or a little wrap around the neck.

Baby is moving about with great force these days. I have managed to get some work done in the boys room. Tomorrow, I am planning on putting the baby clothes away in the draws and getting the bags packed. Then I will have most of what I need finished. I still have to do the final shopping, of nappy liners, wipes, nappies (diapers), etc. I am think about using both disposable nappies and cloth ones, I washed all my cloth nappies and have them at the ready, but will also use disposable ones for when I am going out. I just dont like the thought of carrying dirty nappies with me when I am out shopping or out and about. But whilst at home, I think I can manage cloth ones. I will see how the baby and I go. I remember with Miles, he hated the cloth nappies, and would cry and wake up whenever he wet or dirtied them. But once he was in the disposable ones, he slept better and was a pleasant boy. But most of all he loved his free time with nothing on!

FINISHED!!!!!!!

I have finished knitting my neck warmer. I even made a button hole at one end.... I am so proud of myself. ^_~ My husband loves it, and so does Miles. I will block it and then add my crochet flowers or something to it. I really like how it turned out and it is nice and warm too! Tomorrow I will have it blocked out and will take a photo of it.

Now I am working on finishing my lace wrap for my exchange partner, I hope to have that finished tomorrow and then blocked and then get my parcel ready to post out to my Secret Pal by next week or the week after. I want to make a few Tawashi's as well to go into her box. I have seen a few really cute ones, and they use acrylic yarn as well, cause they are great with their roughness and easy clean ability. ^_^ I just hope she likes my exchange.

FO Husbands Hat for Miles

Finished the my second Husbands hat, but a smaller one for our son, Miles. He is so pleased that he has a hat just like his fathers. Both of them are wearing their hats and keeping themselves warm in tonights cool evening.
I am so glad that this pattern is so easy to follow and modify. I didnt make an extra couple of rounds to fold up the brim but it suits Miles better to have it just like a straight seam beanie. ^_^ I have a little bit of yarn left over, but not enough to make another one for the baby.

FO Husbands Hat

Just before my hubby got home from work, I did the final touches to his Husbands Hat. He was very happy with it when I gave it to him.
I will take a photo of it later on, I need to charge up the batteries for the camera. I have a few other FO (Dots Ditty bag and Pill purse) that I need to take photos of.

I am still working on my Seraphina's shawl. I hope to have it finished this month. Along with a few other projects that I am planning to work on.

Miles has had another great day at Kindy! So that is so good. He really is enjoying his time there and I think he is finding the whole experience a bit overwhelming at first but I think that within the week, it will be all normal for him.
He does look forward to me collecting him from there and seeing his father once he gets home. ^_^ It is so great, he really likes his time playing games with his daddy and doing silly things with him.
He still has a horrible cough at night, but it seems that through the day he is fine. I guess that the cough medicine is working during the day for him, hopefully he will be over this little cough, and will be back to his normal self, sleeping the night through.
