Crochetville, my hooks and patterns

Well my daily or hourly fix for crochetville has been put on hold until a new host is found and it is up again. I love reading what the other members are making and seeing their pictures and the patterns too! It helps with my PAS!

On my hooks, I have a bottle cover, I started out using a pattern but have continued with my own pattern from round 8. It looks good so far, it is for my mother, and I am sure that she will love it.

I am searching for something to do next, apart from the green doily that I am planning on doing. I am still looking for something to crochet.

The Lure of knitting needles

I just learnt how to knit, and had started making the moebius style shrug with it. I was about 1/4 of the way through it, when the unthinkable happened....MILES

He has taken the needle holding the stitches out and was running about the house with it, now i have the task of slipping the stitches onto the needle and hoping that he won't touch it again, but knowing my luck the lure of the needles is too great for him. Just seeing me holding them, and he wants it. He is a little too young to be either crocheting or knitting, but I cant wait for when he is big enough to have a go at this artform. I think that our first project will be a scarf or something simple like that. But until them I will have to protect my needlework and hooking better.

Venetian Doily finished

I started this doily last weekend, and finally finished. I would have finished earlier but I put it down to do some other things. It looks so pretty, I cant wait to do another one. However, I am making a little colourful bag for my son, so that she can put things he finds into it. Kind of a treasure bag for him, as I am sure that he would really like to have it to stick stones, rocks and leaves in. I am using the yarn that he picked from Big W as we were shopping. I hope to get it finished soon for him, but I think it should be done in a few days, if I have the time.

The Venetian doily is being blocked at the moment, and once that is finished I will take a picture of it and then try and work out what I want to do with it. Or where to put it. I am thinking that I might enter it into the show for next year, I am sure that I might have a chance.

Books books books

I love books. My house (well my parents anyway) is full of books. Both Dad and me share a passion for them. And whenever we can we head off to bookfests, the local service station, and the lifeline and st. vinnies for cheap books. On the 1st of September there is going to be a Bookfest in Warwick, so we are heading there on the Friday to check it out and bring home some books. Hopefully, I will be able to find some crochet books. I picked up 3 leaflets on mens clothing on my last visit to st. vincents in Warwick and I am pleased with them. I dont know if I would make them but if I do, I have them there ready to go. If not, I can use them as guides for whatever I am making. So fingers crossed that I will come across a lot crochet books whilst Im there. I am in the mood for a suspense book at the moment, but I have a pile of books here waiting to be read. I have things on my hooks and needle, and missing needles (thanks to the little man!)

my finished doily

Here are the pictures of my finished Four Square doily. I have starched it and blocked it, now it is sitting outside in the sun drying. Once it is dry, I will give it a bit of an iron. Don't know where I will put it, hopefully in the house (fingers crossed).

Cute Koalas

I thought that this picture was so cute of a little Koala and its mother. I havent seen any koalas about here in the Darling Downs, but there are road signs in some areas stating that there are koalas about. Have seen a lot of wallabies and kangaroos with their joey's about. Some living and some roadkill. They are strange creatures, small heads and big bodies, all out of proportion, but cute none the less.

Last night, since I finished the four square doily, I thought that I would get finish off the Venetian doily that I started yesterday, but I ended up picking up my knitting, and did a few rows of that, whilst I watched CSI and CSI: Miami, but went to bed half way through Miami...now I have to go and see what happened. :)

On my hooks at the moment are: venetian doily from Celtwick, an afghan (possible frog), knit moebius.

Finally Finished

Well I finally finished the Four square doily today. I did frog it a few times but I think it looks great anyway. I might give this doily a go later on. I will post photos of it when I take some snaps, hopefully after it has been blocked and starched.

next project

My next project to make is this, bottle cover for mum. It would be great for her when she is working in the garden. I will be making the handle a bit longer so that she can place it in the tree or where ever she wants to hang it.

links

I am using my Yahoo blog to compile a list of links, nothing fancy but an easy reference for me to look at, if you want to see my yahoo blog click here.

What next....

Well I am feeling a bit restless, so I have decided to go to TAFE and do a course for Justice of the Peace. I have wanted to one of them for a while, so what a great chance to go and do it, I have to travel to Toowoomba for an 8am-5pm class, on Saturday. Then I will have to make an appointment with the magistrates office at the court house to sit the exam. I hope that I do fine with it, as it would be great to be a JP.

I am also looking at some other courses to do, I might take up an IT course as well at a later date.

Doily progress
Well I have had a cold, given to me by my now 19month old son, so work on the doily has been going very slowly, I am now onto my second flower, I was hoping to have started the next round, but just havent had the drive to get to it. Hopefully, later today I will get the flowers done. \(*_*)/
I will see if I can get some photos taken of the progress of my doily.
