Peek-a-Boo the Amigurumi

This is my first real attempt at an amigurumi (あみぐるみ). His name is Peek-a-Boo. あみぐるみの名前はぺーカーブーです。(I might as well practice my Japanese, here. I am sure that my husband will come and correct it for me, later.) He has no mouth, but I think that he looks cute without it. My son calls him Elmo for some reason...although it looks nothing like Elmo.

Local Airshow

This weekend the local airstrip, held their airshow. Here are some pictures that my husband and I took of the planes that were there. There was a plane that had some Japanese stickers on them, showing how many Japanese planes were shot down, it was interesting to see. I took a photo of Jumpei and Miles next to that plane. I love the expression Miles has on his face.

My lastest finds

I thought that I should write about my lastest finds. On Friday, Dad and myself headed into Warwick for a bit of a look around as we were both free. We ended up going to St. Vinnies, and whilst we were there, I came across 2 bags of yarn. Both 5ply but one bag contained quite a few little granny squares, so I decided to make the taperstry tote that was talked about on Crochetville.org, I have sewn it all together, and all that is left to do is the edge and the hangles. There are an assortment of colours but the bag looks alright to me. I plan on sewing the inside of it and maybe making a pocket to go in it as well from one of the left over squares.

Last Saturday, whilst I was in Toowoomba with my husband and son, I came across a group of ladies crocheting in from of K-Mart, they had some afghans for raffle and sale, as well as some crochet books, by a local crocheter. They were $A5, and I brought $A10 worth. One set contained 3 books and the other just by it self, so I ended up getting 4 books full of wonderful patterns.

on my hooks
Matinee swingers sweater...just getting started
Lion Brand Foral fantasy pullover....just getting started.

Off my hook
I finished my Amigurumi, just have one arm to sew on, but Miles, runs off with it. He likes it with only one arm. I will post photos of it on here soon.

FO bag and can cover/little pouch

These are the little projects I have worked on to use up some of the thread that my mother brought. She wanted something to hold her ice-cold cans of softdrink in so I made her the little pouch with the 4 beads on it, it can also be used to hold little items in it too. The other one I made for my Aunt, who is visiting from Fiji, I did start out making the same thing for her as I did my mother, but decided to try my own design on it, and made a little bag/pouch for her. The four beads at the top, have corresponding hooks on them so that she can close the top of it, I also made a little handle so that she can carry it with her. It was my first time playing with beads, and I enjoyed it. :)

on my hooks

On my hooks I have a christening gown, the pattern is from a book that I brought at the local Bookfest in Warwick, I think it is called Tots and Toddlers Knit and crochet. I started out doing it, and had to frog as it is using UK terminology and I have been so used to US crochet terminology. So I have to remember to convert it over when I am going along.
I also have a little bag on my other hook, it is almost finished, so I hope to get some pictures of it up soon.

Cricky no more, Legend gone

Steve Irwin 22/02/1962-04/09/2006 What a sad day it is for fans of Steve Irwin! The Crocodile hunter is no longer with us. He was a great man, who did a lot for the wildlife in Australia and overseas. A family man not only to his immediate family but to those he worked with. It is sad to loose a great Australian like him.

ooohhhhh

Oh I would love to have this book added to my collection, but all I have to do is find it in my local bookstore. Hopefully, it wont cost me an arm and a leg.

At one of the local newsagencies that I visited, I came across two little crochet booklets from Annie's Attic. Although I would love to have brought them, I was shocked to see how expensive they were. If they went so expensive they would be sitting in my folder, ready for me to find my next project. But one thing that is great is the internet. I love how I can find almost all the things that I want. I dont think that I am limited to much by not having these books added to my collection...but it would be nice to have something new in there...

Childcare
Today I have placed Miles in the childcare center (this isn't the first time) but it is going to be for the whole day. I am missing him, the house is so quiet! I will pick him up a little later in the afternoon. I am sure that he is enjoying himself with the other children there. It is so so quiet here in the house. Everyone is out as well, so it is very peaceful.
