A family of bloggers
My mother has finally gotten her blog up. I gave it to her as a Christmas present. You can see it here Pottery by Hazel. Please head over there and leave her a message. She is so excited about having somewhere to share her pottery. There will be new photos uploaded soon to the page. :)
There are very few things that gets me both sad and happy at the same time. But today whilst reading the news there was a little article about Salma Hayek. I love her as an actress and seems to be down to earth. The fact that she is still breastfeeding her child is amazing, whilst most stop as soon as they can or dont do it at all. But what she did is not part of a movie or promotion, she did something that would mean a lot to someone else. She offered her breast to a child to have a feed because he was hungry. I was so touched by that. It has been many decades when it was a common practice to breastfeed another child for a woman who was having difficulties. Even though Salma Hayek mentions that her great grandmother did it for a poor woman who had no more milk for her child, it is still an impressive thing to offer your own to help another out.
We learnt about Ash Wednesday at school, but I think that by the time Miles is at school, he will be learning about the bushfires that have so far (at the time of writting this) is standing at 84 dead but I am sure that by morning we are going to be in triple figures. 750 homes have been distroyed by fire and the town of Marysville is no longer a town, with reports that the town has been wiped out by the fires.
Its a total constrast to Queensland, which has been declared 67% or so flooded. I am in the small percentage that is hoping for a little rain to come our way, as it is hot and dry here.
It is a sad day for Australian. With one of Australia on fire and the other end in flooding.
